Ever since founding his Couture atelier in 1997, Jean Paul Gaultier has been incorporating Swarovski crystals into his design creations with striking originality.
His Summer 2014 collection is no exception and showcases no less than fifteen crystal-embellished outfits at his S/S 14 Haute Couture Catwalk event in Paris.
The collection features the exclusive use of Swarovski’s newest crystal innovation Crystal Spikes and Studs, inspired by the great French Haute Couture designer himself.
As fashion norms morph and shift perspective, Swarovski introduces spikes and studs as all-important contemporary design elements that are ripe for a renewed image.
To achieve this, Swarovski merged its crystal brilliance with these edgy 3D forms to create its new Crystal Spikes and Studs that Jean Paul Gaultier uses so beautifully to bring his creation to life.
The designer wanted nothing less than a “celebration of spikes and studs in different forms that become transparent, mirrored, and clearly stimulate extreme creation”.
Other shimmering outfits feature Crystal Spikes and Studs in three different effects and one color: Crystal Metallic Blue, Crystal Metallic Light Gold, Crystal Dorado and Jet.
Jean Paul Gaultier extended the crystallization effect on his collection by creating different looks using both Swarovski crystal accents and show-stopper earrings and bracelets made with Swarovski Crystals.
Standouts from the collection are a fanciful dress with multicolored mesh butterfly motifs and metal trimming; a crocheted dress combining a light fishnet material with metal trimmings and overlaid with multiple embroideries; and a stunning jet dress adorned with transfers reproducing a guipure motif.
