This season Mary Katrantzou shifts her focus towards fabric and textile experimentation, favouring colour blocking and placement prints over the traditional full-scale digital prints with which her label has become synonymous.
Katrantzou commented: “I was inspired by symbolism and wanted to explore the meaning systematically and creatively to channel its significance through clothes and textiles. I have explored embellishment through designing statement features decorated with crystals, rather than just decorating the garments. We have also been working with a jewellery designer to construct geometric shapes, encrusted with crystals, which have then been incorporated into the fabrication of the clothing.”
