Fashion Show Coverage: Jean Paul Gaultier F/W 13/14

Salle Wagram was the location of Jean Paul Gaultier`s F/W 13/14 show. The baroque hall with wooden floor, stucco ceiling and ceiling paintings was illuminated in warm red-pink light.

The atmosphere was a great reflection of the brand; sexy, exciting and fun but most important: tres francaise. 80s pop music was playing and the hostesses all wore Gaultier`s iconic striped shirts to black skirts.

To celebrate the 20th birthday of Gaultier`s 'Classique' perfum, every seated guest (and the models) received a gift bag containing the scent in a newly-designed bottle.

Model Coco Rocha sat front row instead of strouting the runway and was center of attention before the show.

The lights went out and models were striking poses behind the illuminated backdrop.

It was a dynamic show presenting a feminine, self-confident, sexy and luxurious collection.

Long coats and maxi skirts (mostly in flowing chiffon) are central elements of the looks.

Fur stoles in different sizes and shades were omnipresent.

The models walked self-confident and struck poses at the end of the runway.

Stripes and graphic prints were shown as well as monocromatic looks.

The looks were accessorized with gloves, big metal bangles, clutch bags and opaque tights.

The show was underlined by 80s music like Cindy Lauper`s 'Girls just wanna have fun' or The Clash`s 'Rock the casbah' and boy, this collection rocked the casbah!

The end of the defilee saw an eversmiling and charismatic Monsieur Gaultier make a quick run down the catwalk.

My own photos.

Jean Paul Gaultier stayed true to himself and his brand with this show and collection since he kept it fun, feminine and extravagant. He displayed fashion for women with confidence and attitude. It`s awesome that he let his models pose, be sexy and feminine - THIS is how a fashion show is supposed to be! (I`m so tired of designers having expressionless 15-year-olds run down the catwalk.) Fantastic show & fantastic collection - season favourite!

What do you like best about the show & collection?
