Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture F/W 13/14 Made With Swarovski - Runway Details
For designer Jean Paul Gaultier, Swarovski crystals have been an important ingredient in his Haute Couture creations for decades. His stunning collection for Fall/Winter 2013/14, presented in Paris on July 3, 2013, is no exception, with couture creations that showcase crystal in a completely original way.
The collection is a marvel of technical precision and twinkling luminosity, with 1,843,272 crystals incorporated into the designs.
Swarovski has enjoyed a long and rewarding relationship with Jean Paul Gaultier, with crystals playing a sparkling role in his avant-garde creations and cutting-edge designs ever since he founded his Paris atelier in 1982. Describing their effect, he said: “Your inner light can shine bright thanks to Swarovski crystals. Swarovski crystals forever”.
Renowned for his ability to read the changing fashion zeitgeist, the designer has always challenged the accepted norms of haute couture, reworking them in creative ways that earned him the soubriquet ‘enfant terrible’. He is equally famous for the exquisite, detailed precision of his work—crystals and embroidery painstakingly applied to the finest tulles, silks, and leathers.
Commenting, Markus Langes-Swarovski said: We are very proud of our long association with Jean Paul Gaultier, whose unique vision has shaped the look of fashion over the last 35 years. His Fall/Winter 2013/14 couture collection yet again demonstrates breathtaking originality, creating a perfect showcase for truly innovative ways of working with Swarovski crystals.”
