Save the Date(s): German Fashion`s Night Out(s) 2013 on September 5th (Berlin) & September 6th (Düsseldorf)

  Vogue is holding it`s global celebration of fashion for the fifth time, with two events in Germany.  Düsseldorf`s Fashion`s Night Out is held on sptember 6th. Over 100 designer stores and fashion labels, located around Königsallee, are participating, offering special events, deals and exclusive items. Established partners like Apropos, Burberry, Eickhoff, Chanel, Hugo Boss, Schadow Arkaden and Jades take part again, alongside new ones like Jimmy Choo, Filippa K, Wempe and Setareh Gallery.   Berlin`s FNO is held the evening before, on september 5th.    Which city`s Fashion`s Night Out are you looking forward to?

Fashion`s Night Out 2012 in Berlin & Düsseldorf

This year german Fashion`s Night Out is to be on
september 6th in Berlin and september 7th in Düsseldorf.
More than 200 shops, boutiques and luxury department-stores will be open in the evening and surprise shoppers with special events, limited editions and creative ideas. Find more details on german Vogue`s Fashion`s Night Out site.

The limited edition bag 2012 (designed by Vogue) is metallic green and will be available at participating FNO stores.
The secret stars of this year`s event will be the „Shwe Shwe Poppis“, patchwork-style rag dolls made in Soweto, the township of south-african Johannesburg, designed from drawings of orphans. German fashion houses Bogner, Boss, Escada, Odeeh, Rena Lange, Schumacher, Talbot Runhof and Windsor donated fabric remnants which were made into a special FNO collection, limited to 250 dolls. They can be purchased at the designer`s stores during FNO and the proceeds go to the „Zola Crèche“ orphanage in Soweto.

Mercedes-Benz is the main sponsor of the events again and will be providing a shuttle-service for shoppers in both cities.

Emmanuelle Alt is Carine Roitfeld`s successor

Vogue Paris has just announced that Emmanuelle Alt will be taking the position of Editor in Chief.

As the Fashion Director of French Vogue for over ten years, she worked very closely with Carine and knows the job. She previously worked as a contributor at Mixte as well as spending five years as editor of 20 ans.

I guess she is the right one for the job, since she has been working for Vogue Paris for ten years and learned from Carine.

For the personal impression I must say that she is missing "that special glow", that Carine had, that bright smile (that was never dishonest). But maybe that is a question of age and life-experience and may still come with the years.

Style-wise I am PAINFULLY missing femininity here! Her androgynous style is cool and she pulls it off, but it`s not versatile. It`s ok that she rocks the skinny pants and blazers but she could at least accessorize!

I don`t like it when fashion editors go for "minimalistic black" only, they should LOVE fashion and should wear some of the cool, new things that come every season. I`m not saying they need "to go Lady Gaga", but show at least that they know fashion and know how to wear it (which can be done in a very subtle way). This "all black cool" sometimes even appears like a rejection of fashion to me, like a "Yeah, I work in fashion but I`m too cool to wear it myself" attitude. Ladies, the "to cool for school attitude" is so 90s and SO OVER! Show some appreciation, please!

Shock! Carine Roitfeld resigns from Vogue paris!

Vogue Paris editor Carine Roitfeld has resigned after ten years of service. She will leave the magazine at the end of January.

"It is impossible to overstate Carine's powerful contribution to Vogue and to the fields of fashion and magazine publishing. Under her direction, Vogue Paris received record levels of circulation, advertising and editorial success," said Jonathan Newhouse, ceo of Condé Nast International. "Vogue Paris has established itself as one of the most iconic magazines in the world, with huge influence in the field of fashion and photography."

Roitfeld has decided to concentrate on personal projects.

"Carine herself has become widely known as a beacon of style, fulfilling the role with charm and graciousness. She has become a giant in her profession," Newhouse said. "Carine will be deeply missed. I am extremely grateful to her for what she has achieved."

Roitfeld's replacement will be announced in the coming weeks.

Personal style: Earlier in her career, she mixed fashionable T-shirts and vests with designer jeans. When she started at Vogue as creative director she switched to Chanel suits with miniskirts. She continued to wear them during both pregnancies, opening the skirts slightly in back and keeping her jacket on to cover up.

According to biographer Jerry Oppenheimer, her ubiquitous sunglasses are actually corrective lenses, since she suffers from deteriorating vision as her father did. A former colleague he interviewed recalls trying on her Wayfarers in her absence and getting dizzy. "I think at this point they've become, you know, really armor", Wintour herself told 60 Minutes correspondent Morley Safer, explaining that they allow her to keep her reactions to a show private. As she rebounded from the end of her marriage and the turnover in the magazine's editorial staff, a fellow editor and friend noted that "she's not hiding behind her glasses anymore. Now she's having fun again."

Carine Roitfeld

Personal style: Her preferred jacket styles are edgy, tailored and chic with a strong biker/rock'n'roll element. Roitfeld likes to mix the masculine with the feminine and favours designers such as Balmain, Balenciaga and YSL, who excel at this. At the moment this means embracing the big-shoulder trend.

Jeans are 'for [her] assistants' and holidays, although she's not averse to a denim skirt, providing it tallies with her sharp-tailoring ethos. Think sexy body-con dresses and pencil skirts cut to the knee.

She always wears high heels. Killer stilettos are by far the fashionistas most flattering and feminine choice. Her favourites include the YSL Tribute. Look for something with a hidden platform for added "comfort" and anything with straps, laces or buckles aka 'bondage light'.

Her legs are always bare. Even in winter. They must be tanned, lean and ready for action year-round. If this is not an option then black opaques are the only way to go.

Personal Style: Classic and minimalistic. She always wears her hair in a bun. Lots of black suits with clean white shirts.

Personal Style: Her personal style is classic and elegant and her signature smile and wavy blond locks are quite stunning. Franca does not like wearing the latest trends. Instead she opts for classic pieces from all kinds of designers.

Quote: "I really don’t care that much about other people’s opinions. Really. You can’t be loved by everyone. It’s impossible."
