Santoni Edited by Marco Zanini F/W 17/18
Santoni Edited by Marco Zanini is a selection of garments that stems
from the desire to slow down meaningless multiplication with a concise
series of classic items that have been edited in shapes, materials and
colors.
The edit builds a system which over time can further expanded and
redefined. It includes tailored outerwear and sportswear, knitwear, small
accessories, shoes, bags. It is composed of a series of staples, for men
and for women, from the double-breasted double-face coat to the
quilted coat, from the zipped-up blouson to the sculpted blazer, from
the cardigan to the sturdy lace-up. Unexpected details and surprising
linings create a new balance: a beaver coat hides a technical inside, a
severe duster is cut in opulent satin, boxy jumpers come in acidic hues
and elastic bands close sleek pumps.
Quality, excellent craft, sense of color - the lasting characters of
Santoni - are the guidelines that define the project. Materials are
precious: Alpaca, Japanese wools and cottons, silk satin, cashmere,
camelhair, checked wool, wool-silk, silk-viscose, breitschwantz, beaver,
treated shearling, crocodile. The color palette mixes classic tones of
blue, black, burgundy, camel, brown, ink with offbeat touches of pink,
oily yellow, turquoise.
The viewpoint is radical: subdued, fashion-free luxury as proposed by
an author, Marco Zanini, who is used to create fashion and who is now
committed to create garments with no expiry date, designed to meet
specific functions and occasions.
EDITED - Milano is the editorial project conceived for the debut of
Santoni Edited by Marco Zanini. A choral work in every respect, is
stems from the collaboration between British photographers Hill and
Aubrey, creative agency Pomo, Marco Zanini and Angelo Flaccavento.
It mixes a documentary survey into the city of Milan with still life and
fashion shoots that enhance the exquisite, internationally Italian spirit
of the collection, its soft and introspective elegance. Milan is the center
of Edited, the book as well as the collection. A city of muted colors
and hidden gardens, of severe simplicity and shy gentleness, it offers
both the pretext and the context to the whole operation. EDITED -
Milano is the visual and emotional sum of the values that characterize
this effort.

The New Burberry 'DK88' Bag
Burberry reveals the full assortment from its DK88 bag collection, first introduced on the runway as part of the February 2017 show in London,
and celebrated in a campaign shot on location at Henry Moore Studios & Gardens in Hertfordshire.
Named after the house code for the brand’s signature honey-coloured gabardine fabric, the DK88 collection features styles reimagined in Burberry’s new Trench Leather,
paying tribute to the fabric at the very heart of the Burberry story.
The timeless styles form a new permanent bag collection for the brand.
“With The DK88 we wanted to create a timeless collection of bags
which would have the same spirit and attitude as the iconic trench coat.
Each bag is crafted from this incredibly rich Trench Leather, which we
designed to reflect and celebrate the fabric at the very heart of our brand.
The result is a collection of bags in painterly colours which is defined
by its contrasts – effortlessly elegant, modern yet timeless, supple yet
strong – and unmistakably British.” explained Christopher Bailey.
A collection for men and women is available in a range of sizes. It features seven different styles at launch including satchel
and luggage-inspired shapes, anchored by a classic top
handle bag in two sizes. All styles come with an adjustable leather crossbody
strap to allow for hands-free carrying.
The colour palette ranging from black, dark navy,
honey tan, antique red and dark forest green, to painterly hues
of slate blue, blossom pink, ash rose and celadon green.
Designed in England at Burberry’s headquarters in London and
made in Italy, crafted from the brand’s new Trench Leather, which is embossed with a unique
pattern reflecting the distinctive twill finish of cotton gabardine,
the cloth Thomas Burberry patented in 1888, and which is still used
today to make Burberry’s signature made-in-England trench coats.
The full DK88 collection will be available globally in store and on Burberry.com on 3 May, and will evolve with new sizes, styles and colours.
